Why would that be important to an insurance agency? Why would National Nutrition Month be the first thing we ever blogged about? At RMIA, we want to do a couple of things in this blog. We want to be informative about issues in the insurance industry that affect our clients and potential clients, and we want to be part of the community…your community, our community. We work here and live here. We have roots in this city, and we want to help make it better for all of us. With that in mind, we are starting with National Nutrition Month.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsor the National Nutrition Month, and their website is full of great information on nutrition, diet, allergies and disease, men’s and women’s health, children’s health, obesity, sports and exercise, healthy weight and food safety. You can use this resource to help with a variety of things when it nutrition and health. All of this is important when it comes to insurance. Your rates for life and health insurance have a component about them when it comes to your health.
One last thing about National Nutrition Month and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Website…they want to help you save some money while eating healthy. On their website is a list of ways to eat healthy on a budget. Their suggestions include:
Make a list of menu items for the week and a list of items you need.
Use Coupons and Reward Cards
Buy store brands
Buy on sale and in bulk
Compare unit prices (price per pound, per ounce, etc)
Read the labels carefully
Shop the perimeter of the store first (where fresh produce, meat, bakery items are)
Shop seasonally, buy canned or frozen in winter, fresh in summer
Keep foods safe and don’t buy more than you need
Watch checkout tape for mistakes
These tips can help you shop healthy and affordably. To read more about eating healthy on a budget, go here
